Olivier Barlet
Olivier Barlet is a living legend, a world-renowned film critic from France, unanimously presented as the best French and European expert of African cinemas. For decades, he has been hailed for his exceptional work in promoting African film on which he wrote over 1,800 articles and several books, including his seminal work entitled Les Cinémas d’Afrique noire: Le regard en question for which he received major prizes and distinctions worldwide. He served as the Editorial Director for the reputable film magazine Africultures and as a film correspondent for several other magazines specialized in African film. He is a member of the French Union of Film Critics and participated in the creation of the African Federation of Film Critics. He received the Achievement Award for Film Critics at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023. It is a unique privilege to have Olivier Barlet as a speaker and contributor to the event.
